Saadiqa Kumanyika is a therapist who has over 10 years of experience and training working with diverse individuals and families experiencing a range of mental health challenges. She has treated mood disorders, anxiety, grief/loss, trauma, attachment ruptures, communication, and relationship challenges. Saadiqa brings a trauma- informed, strengths-based, culturally competent, anti-oppressive, and intersectional lens to her professional practice. Saadiqa strives to create a safe, nonjudgmental, inclusive space that allows clients to feel seen, heard, and understood while guiding them to stability and improved daily functioning. Towards this end, Saadiqa integrates evidenced based therapeutic modalities including DBT, CBT, MI, ecotherapy, mindfulness, attachment based, solution focused, structural and family systems-based interventions into her work. In addition, her therapeutic approach is informed by years of work with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, child welfare involved families, more recently, high acuity adolescents and young adults in an intensive outpatient program, training in clinical social work at the University of Pennsylvania, and certification in ecotherapy. Her perspective as a mother, wife, educator, community builder, and Black woman raised in the U.S., enhances her insight and connection to clients from all walks of life.
