Of Lebanese and Venezuelan background and raised in New York City, Amal brings a multicultural perspective to her work. As a DACA recipient, she understands the uncertainty that can come with immigration systems and views reconnecting with one’s truth as a powerful act of resilience. She also understands how easy it can be to lose yourself under the weight of perfectionism, pressure, and burnout, and hopes to support clients in finding steadiness, joy, and belonging in ways that feel authentic to them. Amal has a special care for women and BIPOC clients seeking belonging, while also welcoming couples, families, and children navigating life’s transitions. Amal draws inspiration from ACT, Narrative Therapy, somatic practices, DBT, Internal Family Systems, and inner child work, while remaining open and flexible in her practice. She is currently expanding her training in somatic and mind-body approaches, particularly as they relate to stress, trauma, chronic pain, and body image. At the heart of her work is the belief that therapy can be a space to explore, re-narrate, and honor each person’s story with care. Her philosophy is holistic and integrative—trusting that healing happens when we care for both mind and body with compassion and go at the pace of each client’s needs. Amal has been a member of The Root Therapy team since 2022 and is completing her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at Grand View University. She came to counseling as a second career after working in marketing and business development, and continues to support her family’s small business. Outside of work, Amal enjoys traveling, discovering cozy cafés, experimenting with new recipes, and snuggling with her cats, Figaro and Abu. Movement, connection, and creativity are central to how she reconnects to joy and her body—and she brings that same authenticity and warmth into her work with clients.
